2007 - 2008 Programs

Taos Sports Associates is pleased to offer a variety of ski programs for 2007-2008. Athletes may choose between one of our Alpine Racing Programs (USSA, Fun Race, Masters) or our Freeride Program. Our program fees are based on the age of the athlete as of December 31st. You'll notice (see forms) that our Alpine Race Program pricing structure is designed to encourage USSA level participation. These athletes receive over twice the coaching for much less than double the cost. Any athlete with goals including regional racing, the Junior Olympics, or beyond should be enrolled in our USSA program.

ALPINE RACING PROGRAMS

USSA PROGRAM This is a weekend racing program for athletes 9 and up. These athletes focus on fundamentals, tactics, and will be racing in regional USSA and FIS races. Athletes will train on Saturdays, Sundays, and 5 days over the Christmas Holiday break. Additional weekday training, or coaching at weekday races, is available through our weekday programs (see below). USSA level athletes will be on snow in early November (when conditions permit) through mid April. Fall dry land training is included and runs from early October through mid November. For program fees please see the Alpine Registration Form located on the forms page of this website.

FUN RACE PROGRAM This is a Saturday introductory racing program for athletes 12 and younger. These athletes will be introduced to skiing fundamentals, tactics, and they will be participating in the New Mexico Fun Race Series. On snow training for this program begins the Saturday after Thanksgiving and runs through March. Fall dry land training is included and runs from early October through mid November. For program fees please see the Alpine Registration Form located on the forms page of this website.

WEEKDAY PROGRAMS

School Program Many Taos schools offer ski days with their ski clubs. On these days, USSA LEVEL members in these programs may train with our coaches while their classmates are taking ski school lessons. These programs typically run for 5 weeks following the Christmas vacation period. Please check ahead with your school regarding these programs and make sure to get signed up in time. For program fees please see the Alpine Registration Form located on the forms page of this website.

We do not offer school program days to TSA athletes attending schools without a ski program in place. This is due to the fact that TSA does not promote skipping school to train. Parents who wish for their children to ski in lieu of attending school should have them enrolled in the full time weekday program.

Full Time Weekday Program This program is for USSA Level athletes that are dedicated and show a strong interest in training and racing. These athletes may train with a TSA coach whenever one is available as long as the training day has been set up in advance with the coaching staff. For program fees please see the Alpine Registration Form located on the forms page of this website.

MASTERS PROGRAM This program is designed for adults 20 years of age or older that want to improve their racing and take on the Rocky Mountain Masters circuit. Masters training will be held Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons. Masters may also train with the team on Sundays providing that we have space and coaching available. Masters can choose between our Full-Time training package or utilize our Masters Punch Card. For program fees please see the Masters Registration Form located on the forms page of this website

FREERIDE PROGRAM TSA is happy to offer an exciting program that focuses on slopestyle and big mountain skiing. Athletes participating in this program will learn the skills needed to negotiate some of the steepest terrain in North America. Our home in Taos Ski Valley affords our athletes the chance to challenge themselves with narrow chutes, steep lines and ripping fast large peak descents. When not in the steeps, athletes will fine tune their basic skiing skills as well as being able to learn and practice aerial stunts in a safe, supervised environment. The program will meet 13 Saturdays during the ski season starting the beginning of December and ending in late March. Cost for the weekend freeride program will be $475. In addition, athletes may also choose the school day program for $100. This program would add 5 mornings of training to be held in conjunction with the school ski programs in the area. To register go to the forms link and download the Freeride Registration packet.
